Weight loss stalls happen when the calories you eat are the same as the calories burned in your body. A weight-loss plateau is when your weight loss stops. It is different from weight gain because it does not add up your weight. A weight-loss plateau is caused by natural reactions in your body and some of it is caused by the foods that you eat. That is why it is important that you would track your weight loss every day.

Weight loss stalls can happen unexpectedly even if you do best in your diet. It is sometimes because of your hormones during your menstruation. However, it will just be gone as soon as your period is done. Weight loss plateau is also caused by changes in the metabolic rate in your body. This is because you accidentally eat too much or fewer calories than what is allowed during the VLCD.

How avoid weight loss stall on P2 of the HCG diet?

  • Assess- This means that you have to look back on your habit for the past few days. Reassess your habit to be able to determine the cause of the weight stall. Provide a weight loss journal to keep a record of your daily activities, the foods you eat, and other things that are related to your weight loss.
  • Cut more calories- If you are following the modern VLCD of the HCG diet which is the 800 calorie intake you have to cut it down. Try to do the 5900 calorie diet which is the standard calorie requirement in the original protocol of Dr. Simeons. Sometimes the weight loss stall happens because you eat too many calories than what is being burned. Choose to have low-calorie foods that are allowed during the second phase of the HCG diet.
  • Review your exercise routine– An intense workout or too many physical activities can cause high stress levels. A high stress level will then cause your hormones in your body to add weight or stall. The VLCD on the HCG diet only allows light physical activities such as cardio, walking, and jogging. This is because HCG will burn your body fats rapidly even without hitting the gym.
  • Administer the right dose of HCG shot- The usual dose of HCG injection is from 125ius or 150ius depending on your weight loss goal. Having too much dose does not cause over dosage but it can still affect fat burning. That is why you have to maintain your HCG shot every day as soon as you get up. Avoid missing a dose because it can cause the occurrence of hunger and weight loss stall.

Things you need to stop to avoid stalls during the HCG diet

#1- Stop eating on restaurants-

When you are on the HCG diet you have to prepare your food at home. Your home will be the safest place when you are doing the HCG diet. Eating in restaurants may affect your diet because the foods you will be eating are not diet-friendly. You have to avoid eating foods that can sabotage your weight loss. Prepare your foods at home and choose whole food choices that are low in calories.

#2- Stop eating foods as much as you want

The second phase of the HCG diet is not the same as the loading phase. This stage is the time that you will cut down your food intake.  Start to portion your food intake properly. Do not eat too much or eat fewer calories than what is allowed during the VLCD.

#3- Stop the HCG shot DURING menstruation

If your menstruation occurs amid the VLCD, you can take a break on the HCG shot. This is because PMS or premenstrual symptoms may sometimes cause an issue to your weight loss. Continue the 500 calorie diet but stop your shot for the meantime.

#4- Stop the water retention

Water retention can cause weight loss stall. This is because of the water weights in your body. To stop water retention you have to start drinking an exact amount of water. Water will help in pushing the water weights and fat toxins out of your body.

You can try the apple day if the stall continues

Apple days involve eating on apples only for 24 to 2 days. This is a tactic that will get you back on your diet track. You can have at least 6 apples each day until your weight gets back on track. Start the apple day at noon on the first day and stop it at noon on the next day. This is a good way to get rid of the excess water weights.

Are you allowed to stop the HCG shot abruptly?

No. Maintaining the HCG shot must be upon the recommended duration or until you reach your weight loss goal. Do not stop the usage abruptly without finishing the duration of the VLCD. It is because it can cause problems such as weight loss stall and worst is weight gain. You are just allowed to stop having the HCG when you have menstruation but continue your diet. Get back in using the diet hormone right away when your period is over.

For proper calorie intake, you are not allowed to eat solid foods for breakfast. You just have to drink coffee or tea before doing your exercise routine. Lunch and dinner will be your major meal during the VLCD. For your major meals, you must have a portion of 100 grams of lean meat for protein. You must also have a vegetable serving and one fruit. Avoid serving canned vegetables or dried foods because it has added preservatives and sugar.

Avoid mixing vegetables during the VLCD. This is because vegetables have corresponding calorie levels. You can have vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, cabbage, celery, asparagus, lettuce, etc. For fruit choices, you can have an apple, grapefruit, strawberry, oranges, plums, peaches, etc. You can also have more protein sources aside from lean beef meat. You can serve chicken breast, lean crab meat, shrimp, and fish.
