Advisable Items for the HCG Diet

Eating to hunger means there are some days that you don’t feel hungry at all. This time you can eliminate the foods that you are not hungry for. This is not required during the HCG diet but if you don’t feel hungry you can do this technique. You just have to make sure that you eat the two portions of lean protein to avoid hunger. You also have to avoid eating too much on your next meal to avoid weight gain.

How many calories are allowed during the P2 of the HCG diet?

For the first-time dieter, you need to know the exact calorie requirements on P2 of the HCG diet. This is for you to avoid struggles in getting through this phase. The original protocol of the HCG diet allows you to have 500 calories for the entire day. There is also a modern approach to VLCD which can allow having 800 calories per day. However, the original protocol works fast in reaching your weight loss goal.

When is eating less than 500 calories allowed?

Dr. Simeons discovered that the HCG patients were not hungry at all with the 500 calorie intake. Loading on less than 500 calories per day is allowed with the guidance of a diet doctor. The right dose of HCG will be responsible for curbing hunger. You can eat less than 500 calories if you are comfortable, no hunger pains, and not stressed. Focus on loading valuable proteins, vegetables, and fruits.

What can you skip when you are not hungry at all on Phase 2?

You can skip anything but NOT with the two proteins. You can skip those foods that you are not hungry for a couple of days or more. You can ditch first the Melba toast or grissini, then fruits, then veggies on the last. You can just eat 1 fruit for the entire day. However, you have to make sure that there is no associated hunger while doing this. Get back to 500 calorie intake in case you feel discomfort or hunger pains.

How to avoid weight loss struggles during the VLCD of the HCG diet

  • Proper food portioning- There will be no weight loss struggles if you know how to portion your foods. Portion your meal properly starting from your breakfast coffee up to your dinner.
  • Break your 500 calorie meal- This is a safe technique of having something to eat for the entire day. Instead of eating the 500 calorie meal all at once, you can portion it. Make sure that you do not go beyond the allowed daily calorie requirements on VLCD.
  • Avoid sugar and unhealthy ingredients- Unhealthy food ingredients and sugar can trigger your cravings. It also makes the food more appealing to eat and may ruin your HCG diet. If you want your food to taste sweet you can add stevia on it.
  • Avoid processed drinks- Aside from processed foods you also have to stop drinking unhealthy beverages. Do not drink alcohol, wine, juice, energy drinks, and even weight loss soda. This is because it has empty calories that will convert into body fats right away.
